Exit Wounds

Average User Rating:Average customer review:

Even predictable action flicks provide proper escapism. Some of the predictability does not happen because the script needed another rewrite.

I am a Steven Segal fan. My first choice in films is action. “Exit Wounds” did not disappoint me on either count. However, several undeveloped script elements are unbiased ploys to introduce characters or transition locations. Many of the problems with the movie belong to the screenwriter or film editor. I would have liked to look deleted scenes, which were not included in the DVD special features.

Segal’s fight scenes are not overdone: he goes in, gets the job done without excess violence, and walks away calmly. He could be considered a knight of the round table, a Jedi master, a starship captain, or your average guy with fantastic qualities.

This movie is action driven, but the intelligence that Segal brings to all of his characters shows through. Detroit cop Orin Boyd is a maverick officer, and his one-man shows frequently rep him into distress. The opening scene depicts him using his gut instinct, which is based in deductive reasoning and observation skills. He sees a cop, with a scraped ear, wearing an earring; the patrolman is one of the entourage who is escorting the Vice President from the podium, where he spoke about gun control, encourage to his hotel. Boyd rescues the VP from an assassination attempt, but instead of gratitude, he is sent from one precinct to another.

Who are these assassins? That inherent put a question to is never answered, though I understanding it would be before the movie ended. I stare this as an opening gambit to perform the plausible impression that “awful cops” were fervent. However, even scene setting should have a reasonable retort.

Jill Hennesy is the captain of the novel precinct and requires that Boyd assist a “rage class.” In the class, he meets Tom Arnold, who is the funny relief, and never fails to do his job proper. The classroom and meeting were also impartial a tool to provide a trusted resource when the investigation of a drug ring left no one to trust. Completely undeveloped is the romance between Hennesy and Segal, though innuendoes and quips pass between the two. A fair woman and a virile man, obviously attracted to one another, may have added the sparkle that is missing from most action films; it would have been so natural here, and not taken the focus away from the region.

DMX, like Segal, carries an aura of unruffled assurance. He is dynamic and sexy, and could well be another superstar and box office plot. His character is tranquil, and his reasons for the involvement in the drug investigation are obedient.

Even with the problems, I know I will leer this movie many more times. Therefore, I give it four stars. If you do not like violent, action packed movies with undeveloped script elements, then you might not like this one.

Victoria Tarrani

A lot of you may have considered Steven Seagal’s non-presence for the 4 years before this film a blessing (he last appeared in 1997’s Fire Down Below, which was a No. 1 hit but calm mature movie) but I contemplate that audiences are honest too dismissive of him and that he needs to be given another chance. They waited for him to dash up and as soon as he delivered a flop he got called names and we forgot about him. Give the guy a fracture. The Mob is after him! And in trusty life his Aikido won’t do him any genuine in that kind of place.

With Exit Wounds, extinct action producer Joel Silver had thrust Steve befriend in the limelight, build him on the Slimfast diet (it really, really works) and given him better material to work with. After all an actor can only do as well-behaved as the script.

From a new of the same name by John Westerman (but bearing about 40% resemblance to it) the situation centres on Orin Boyd, a cop busted down to Patrolman after a rough encounter with the Vice-President (Gore? Cheney? ) . Once on the streets Boyd’s suspicious nose can’t maintain him out of disaster with undercover cops who are trying to bust local Drug Boss Latrell Walker (DMX), or so it seems.

Boyd smells base play and intrudes upon a stakeout, handcuffing TK (Anthony Anderson), one of Walkers men to the front of his car before doing so. When he returns to score the front of his car missing and the thug long gone Boyd takes it upon as his responsibility to earn it support and inadvertently exhibit a ring of tainted cops in the process. After all his car comes first.

There are many attempts at irony throughout the movie and surprisingly enough most of them work. Boyd is forced to back rage control classes in which he meets eccentric TV host Henry Wayne (Tom Arnold) who becomes his wannabe partner. But sadly enough the classes don’t work as Boyd continues to uses violence first, ask questions later. And there is a public service announcement too. Seagal survives a car fracture by airbag. A later car wreck victim doesn’t have one and dies.

There are only a couple of ‘cop movie’ clichés but not noteworthy else. The unpleasant guys are glowing stereotyped although they benefit their purpose. And it’s a pity we know who they are as soon as we peek them, but they were never intended to be obsolete for suspense in the first situation. But they really do stink the site out. You WANT them to die.

Bartkowiak’s direction is better than in his debut Romeo Must Die and adds a heavy dose of frenetic run to such a fast-paced film. Action scenes are handled with experience and care. There is no MTV-style editing and no confusion to be had. He should have spent objective a shrimp dinky bit more time with the characters. It’s not often that action movies have such strong characters and Exit Wounds does give us enough of them.

Seagal had learned a small, fair a minute, more in the acting location but mild doesn’t know how to train himself worthy. There’s too grand frowning and not enough other emotions from Boyd. We do want to feel more from him but he won’t allow us. I guess this is unbiased how Seagal is. He unbiased can’t net away from himself too grand no matter what role he plays. I wish Seagal would try harder. He’ll get more fans this map. But it’s salubrious to leer that he is in better condition than of gradual and has proved to Hollywood that he is calm here and detached frowning. Sadly he has chosen to star in loads of rather abominable Asian movies since (the real-life Mob forced him into this) and as we all await Under Siege 3 we don’t enjoy our breath.

The DVD is in great-looking 2.35:1 anamorphic widescreen with a shining Dolby 5.1 soundtrack. Some fluff extras are included.

Being the chihuahua lover that I am, I was first in line at our local cinema to watch this flick!

Buy,Download, Or Stream Beverly Hills Chihuahua! Click Here

I loved it from begining to destroy, however it wanst exactly what I expected. From some of the previews it looked like there would be lots more chihuahuas in most of the film, but for the most section it is two chis (Chole and Papi) along with a German Shepard. Towards the raze is about 5-7 mintues of films with LOTS of chihuahuas, include a bit of history about the breed, some dazzling frosty looking aztec ruins, and chis of every shape and color, including brindles, blue, chocolates, blacks, merles, spotted, fawn and even long coats!

Has astronomical themes about finding your roots, not giving up on your correct friends and helping others when they need it the most. Also, that no matter what your situtation is, there is a space where you belong.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Beverly Hills Chihuahua! Click Here

I went with a friend from work (we are both adults) and we both loved it. We laughed and cried, and agreed we will study it again and occupy it when it comes to video!

Also, kudos to Disney. At the kill of this film there is a stamp about how each pets deserves a permenant loving home, and if you win a dog, to do research on the breed!

Even with all the hype and not expecting a gracious film, Beverly Hills Chihuahua is improbable, delicious and droll. I call it a unusual day Lady and The Tramp. After reading one review on Amazon about how dusky, implausible, etc..I wondered what the viewer really wanted and that maybe he/she had been damaged earlier in life by sweet, dog loving, gloomy but gracious ending movies.

It’s a dog lovers movie and a very kindly kids movie with plenty of “life lessons”…..unbiased like all Disney dog movies. Hooray for Disney. How else would dinky children learn about dogs and esteem and life and loyalty. Animation (dogs talking) done very, very well. I’m 59 years traditional and I’ve not seen a sweeter movie in years.

The House with Laughing Windows

Average User Rating:Average customer review:

THE HOUSE WITH LAUGHING WINDOWS (1976) : Stefano (Lino Capolicchio), an art specialist, is hired by members of a rural Italian village to fabricate restoration work on a disturbingly violent fresco of Saint Sebastian painted on a decaying church wall. He meets and falls in fancy with a stunning teacher, Francesca (Francesca Marciano), while staying for free in a house once owned by the sisters of the long boring artist. Stefano gradually learns that the painter and his sisters were monstrously substandard sadists who bloodily tortured people to death as inspiration for his horrific art. Various murders ensue and Stefano realizes that the killer is attempting to close him from learning more of the village’s secrets.

This shocker may be filled with lunatics, violent killings and an undeniably horrific climax, but it is filmed without any of the sleazy exploitation one might request from the above synopsis. Pupi Avati directs the ugly proceedings with masterful precision, utilizing a careful, tedious trek in order to slowly effect up a truly palpable sense of malice. While not failing to resort to some tried and good suspense techniques throughout, Avati finds it equally notable to linger with peevish, loving attention on the exceedingly desolate landscape surroundings and claustrophobic interiors. Cinematographer Pasquale Rachini’s radiant imagery creates a distinct sense of set and atmosphere and helps execute Stefano’s growing feelings of isolation and terror all too sincere.

Lino Capolicchio plays Stefano with seriousness and intelligence, and his noble performance is greatly responsible for the film’s overall success; its impossible not to care about what happens to him in the film’s disturbing, ambiguous finale. Francesca Marciano is equally delicate as Stefano’s admire interest; their relationship is presented in a fairly realistic manner, and although inserting a romance into the storyline is more than a tad formulaic, Marciano is so charming and magnificent its certainly easy to gaze why Stefano falls for her so quick.

Director Avati may have developed a solid international reputation as a serious auteur with a lengthy filmography chunky of critically acclaimed “arthouse” character studies like THE Yarn OF BOYS AND GIRLS, but in the U.S. his reputation rests mostly on two cult apprehension films, ZEDER and THE HOUSE WITH LAUGHING WINDOWS. ZEDER has long been the most visible of the two, having managed a domestic release on videotape in the 1980’s with the more exploitable title of REVENGE OF THE Tiring,, as well as a (disappointing) DVD release in 2000 under its generous title. HOUSE, on the other hand, has languished in relative obscurity since its 1976 release in Italy, despite significant raves across the board, including from such wonderful sources as Phil Hardy’s THE OVERLOOK FILM ENCYCLOPEDIA: Apprehension and VIDEO WATCHDOG magazine.

Now, finally, HOUSE has received a remarkable deserved DVD release as share of Image Entertainment’s Euroshock Collection. Thankfully, the print outmoded is in stunningly pristine shape; the movie literally looks brand-new. The film’s attractive visuals are presented in their current aspect ratio, letterboxed at 1.85:1 (although the DVD’s box claims 1.78:1) . The Italian language soundtrack has optional English subtitles. Extras include a still/lobby card gallery, a surprisingly dumb trailer and, most impressively, a short (subtitled) Italian language retrospective/documentary featuring a consuming interview with Avati who obviously feels gargantuan admire for this gem of a apprehension film. And so will you.

I keep this on at two in the morning after work one night and sat through it (and the subtitles) with nary a yawn… and was quite creeped out by the raze credits. It has everything that makes a tall giallo- titillating camera shots, a position that ravels itself abet together in the last few minutes, picaresque locations populated by physically and emotionally crooked subcharacters (and I notion America had cornered the market on zigzag rednecks- Win a load of the altar boy!) . An artist on a restoration project begins recieving death threats and investigates further after a friend gets pushed from his window, leading to a reel tape of the artist (not a spoiler- it’s in the opening credits) describing his flesh tortured in conjunction with his art (how pomo) . Kudos to Image for releasing this film undubbed because you’d miss out on the eerie flavor of the phone calls and that reel tape – probably the creepiest tape old in a film after the opening credits of “Klute”. On a technical brand, remember to click in the subtitles option before viewing the film, and don’t see the making of until after the movie – it has spoilers. You may need to peer it after anyway, objective to have a better transition to shutting off the t.v. in a unlit house! So, overall, one of the more region oriented giallos that unruffled can carry itself into suspension of disbelief, and with very tiny lost relevancy.

I’m elated that they finally released Hi-5 as a season, but this DVD place appears to have been thrown together in a few hours. There’s no episode list, and some menu options didn’t work. You have to go through all 3 discs yourself to score out what’s in it. On the other hand, my daughter LOVES Hi-5, and I can build in a disc, resolve Play All, and not have to futz with it. It also comes with some stickers which I’m certain my daughter will be pleased sticking in exclusive places all over the house.

SE7EN – Can anything more be said about what a mountainous film this is???? Well, now, YES because Unique Line’s original Double DVD is a fabulous package and a MUST for any fan of the film. The film has once again been remastered from the unique film elements and it has never looked better — even better than the worn Criterion laserdisc. Colors, shadowings, sound, dissimilarity have all been adjusted for optimum enact (one of the extras on disc 2 shows the before-and-after on several scenes) . Impartial check out the green lamps in that library scene – WOW! The film is on Disc 1 and there are 4 separate commentary tracks…the most piquant one in my thought is Track 2 which discusses the genesis of the project from script, to selling it to a studio and the fight to withhold the current ending. Fincher is always arresting, but hearing Andrew Kevin Walker discuss his inspiration for writing the script and the struggles to net it made is even more challenging. The lisp late one of the most modern screenplays in years is pure genius. “Extras”-filled Disc 2 features deleted scenes (including the unique opening) …most of which are unbiased slightly extended scenes from the film (you observe more of “Pride”, etc.) . There is also an alternate carve of the ending with different shots that was test-screened to an audience plus a storyboard of a different ending that was never shot. All of these near with or without commentary. An analysis of the opening credit sequence offers different angles and commentaries on 3 variants of the sequence. There are detached galleries with commentaries by the photographers. Yes, “Sloth” victim’s decay is included in the photos (unfortunately, not as clearly as it was presented on the Criterion LD) as well as John Doe’s notebooks and lair. There is only one theatrical trailer (where are all the tv spots, etc. that were on the LD????? ) and a short EPK. There are also some DVD-rom features on both discs (script-to-scene, etc.) to round it all out.

Only downside is that a lot of the extras on the Criterion LD are NOT INCLUDED HERE in any execute. Although Criterion holds the rights to their novel commentary track (Featuring Fincher, Pitt, Freeman, Recall Bottin, Walker, etc) and some other extras, surely Current LINE owns the rights to the tv spots and other such promo materials. Where, for instance, is the astronomical gallery of recent artwork and poster concepts that so playfully ancient the number 7 or the sins as the backdrop???? Modern Line created these so why aren’t they included here? The Criterion disc also had out-takes and many other things not included here, so don’t ever toss that disc out! It’s determined to be considerable some day. And with this DVD, which also includes items NOT on the Criterion LD, they combine to effect the ultimate “SE7EN” collection.

“At first sin is a stranger in the soul; then it becomes a guest; and when we are habituated to it, it becomes as if the master of the house.” – Tolstoy.

Although not originating from the bible, the notion of deadly sins is almost as musty as Christian doctrine itself. Theologians like 4th century Greek monk Evagrius of Pontus first compiled catalogues of deadly offenses against the divine order, which 6th century pope Gregory the Stout consolidated into a list of seven sins, which in turn formed the basis of the works of medieval/renaissance writers like St. Thomas Aquinas (”Summa Theologiae”), Geoffrey Chaucer (”Canterbury Tales”), Christopher Marlowe (”Dr. Faustus”), Edmund Spenser (”The Faerie Queene”) and Dante Alighieri (”Commedia Divina”/”Purgatorio”) . And in times when the ability to read was a privilege rather than a basic skill, the depiction of sin in paintings wasn’t far behind; particularly resulting from the 16th century’s reformulation of church doctrine, the works of artists like Hieronymus Bosch and Pieter Bruegel the Elder brought the horrific results of humankind’s penchant to indulge in vice serve into general consciousness with surrealistic eloquence, reminding their viewers that no sin goes unseen (Bosch, “The Seven Deadly Sins”) and that its commission leads straight into a hell reigned by shocking, grotesque demons and devils whose sole purpose is to torture those fallen into their hands (Bosch, “The Hay-Wagon” and “The Last Judgment;” Bruegel, “The Triumph of Death” and “The Tower of Babel”) .

More recently, the seven deadly sins have been the subject of Stephen Sondheim’s play “Getting Away With Cancel” and a ballet by George Balanchine (”Seven Deadly Sins”) ; and on the silver camouflage the topic has been addressed almost since the beginning of filmmaking (Cabiria [1914], Intolerance [1916]) . Thus, “Se7en” builds on a solid tradition both in its acquire domain and in other art forms, topically as well as in its come, denouncing society’s apathy towards vice and crime. Yet – and although expressly referencing the writings of St. Thomas Aquinas, Chaucer and Dante – David Fincher’s movie eschews well-trodden paths and grabs the viewer’s attention from the beginning; and it does so not merely by the depiction of serial killer John Doe’s (Kevin Spacey’s) crimes, which could easily degenerate into a mindless bloodfest that would defeat the movie’s purpose. (Not that there isn’t a elegant part of blood and gore on display; both visually and in the characters’ dialogue regarding those details not actually shown; but Fincher uses the crimes’ frightening nature to acquire a sense of stark realism, rather than for shock value alone.) In addition, Doe’s mindset is painstakingly presented by the opening credits’ vexed nature, his “lair”’s apocalyptic makeup and his notebooks, all of which were actually written out (at much expense), and whose compilation is shown underlying the credits. The movie’s atmosphere of unrelenting doom is further underscored by a color way dominated by brown, gray and only subdued hues of other colors, and by the fact that almost every outdoors scene is dwelling in rain. Moreover, although screenwriter Andrew Kevin Walker explains on the DVD that the chronicle was inspired by his observations in Unusual York (and the movie was shot partly there, partly in L.A.), it is region in a faceless, nameless city, thus emphasizing that its distress isn’t a specific residence but society generally.

Central to the movie is the difference between world-weary Detective Somerset (Morgan Freeman) who, while decrying the rampant occurrence of violence in society, for powerful of the movie seems to have resigned himself to his inability to do something meaningful about this (and therefore seems to bag apathy for himself, too, until his reluctant final turnaround), and younger Detective Mills (Brad Pitt), who fought for a reassignment to this particular station, perhaps naively expecting his contributions to actually compose a difference; only to become a pawn in Doe’s arrangement instead and thus exhibit that, given the upright trigger, nobody is beyond temptation. As such, Somerset and Mills are not merely another incarnation of the famous old-cop-young-cop pairing. Rather, their characters’ development over the course of the film forces each viewer to put a question to his/her occupy stance towards vice.

Morgan Freeman and Brad Pitt perfectly record the two detectives; while Freeman imbues his Will Somerset with a composed dignity, professionalism and learning, muted by profound but not yet wholly irreversible resignation, Pitt’s David Mills is a brash everyman from the suburbs with an undeniable wander of prejudice, a penchant for expeditiously judgment and a thorough lack of sophistication, both personally and culturally. Indispensable are also the appearances of Gwyneth Paltrow (significantly Brad Pitt’s real-life girlfriend at the time) as Mills’s wife Tracy and ex-marine R. Lee Ermey as the police captain. Yet, from his very first appearance onwards, this is entirely Kevin Spacey’s film. Reportedly, Brad Pitt especially fought hard for his casting; and it is indeed hard to imagine “Se7en” with anybody other than the guy who, that same year, also won an Oscar for portraying devilish Keyser Soze in “The Usual Suspects”: No living actor has Spacey’s ability to simultaneously mutter spine-chilling villainy, laconic indifference and limitless superiority with merely a few gestures and vocal inflections.

While “Se7en” can certainly claim the “sledgehammer” achieve on its viewers sought by its fictional killer, the punishment meted out to Doe’s victims – taking their perceived sins to the shameful – pales in comparison to that awaiting sinners according to medieval teachings. (Inter alia, gluttons would thus be forced to eat vermin, toads and snakes, greed-mongers set in cauldrons of boiling oil and those guilty of lust smothered in fire and brimstone.) Most serial killers have decidedly more mundane motivations than Doe. And after all, this is only a movie.

Right?

“Sin … engenders vice by repetition of the same acts, [clouding the conscience and corrupting the judgment.] Thus sin tends to reproduce … and reinforce itself, but it cannot demolish the accurate sense at its root.” – Catechism of the Catholic Church (1994) .

Some Like It Hot

Average User Rating:Average customer review:

To legal the technical info above, this DVD (both the special edition and movie-only edition) DOES HAVE an English monophonic soundtrack that was originally feeble in the film. Also included is a Dolby Digital 5.1 track, but one wonders if a dialog-heavy film like this should really need a surround soundtrack. Dialogs in both the mono and the 5.1 tracks sound perfectly obvious and understable. The surround sound only comes into employ during the occasional music and gunfight sequences. I do applaud the inclusion of the unique mono track, which quite a few novel DVDs of older movies do not provide in the hope of enticing modern DVD owners with 5.1 audio.

The video transfer looks expansive — images are spellbinding, levels of dusky contemplate realistic (you can clearly leer and feel the velvety texture of a dark robe Monroe wears), signs of wear and hurry are virtually non-existent. The relate aspect ratio is 1.66:1, which is not the 1:85:1 ratio frail for the novel US theatrical release and for all previous US letterboxed laserdisc releases. The 1.66:1 ratio adds a shrimp narrate to the top, but doesn’t really affect the composition. The video is also non-anamorphic, so the resolution is not as high on a widescreen TV as it would be with an anamorphic DVD. There is also no English optional subtitles, but there are yellow optional French and Spanish ones.

I would have gladly paid a higher trace if they had included better supplementary material on the Special Edition DVD, such as the audio commentary and home movies that were attach on the Criterion laserdisc made in the early 90s. The extras on the Special Edition DVD include a though-provoking but superficial 30-minute novel interview with Tony Curtis reminiscing about the film, a rather stupid 12-minute interview with the actresses who played the girl band members, a segment called “Virtual Hall of Memories” that is essentially a quiet gallery, and trailers of 7 Wilder films including SOME LIKE IT HOT; all the trailers are in unpleasant video condition. The most intelligent extra is a reproduction of a pressbook for the film, but the pictures are blurry and the smaller text is illegible. I am disappointed that we never secure to hear from Jack Lemmon or Billy Wilder, both collected alive, on this DVD. These extras are not impressive, so one may think buying the movie-only edition for a cheaper trace.

Billy Wilder’s most current comedy finally receives the deluxe treatment it deserves. MGM previously released this classic comedy in a nonanamorphic widescreen version a couple of years support. While that edition looked fine decent this anamorphic transfer puts any previous editions (including my noteworthy favored laserdisc edition) to shame. Wilder’s comedy operates as a spoof of gangster films and a comedy about gender roles. Jerry (the leisurely Jack Lemmon) and Joe (Tony Curtis) are two musicians on the lam when they study the St. Valentine’s Day Massacre. With Spats Columobo (George Raft) and his men looking for the duo they go undercover as musicians disagreeable dressing and joining an all female band headed for a gig in Florida. Becoming a woman allows Joe/Josephine to spent time with Sugar (Marilyn Monroe) the latest woman that catches Joe’s cherish. Jerry/Daphne on the other hand finds himself romanced by a rich man (Joe E. Brown) who won’t pick the hint as Jerry tries to blow off his advances.

And you notion the 50’s were tame. One of Wilder’s richest 50’s comedies “Some Like It Hot” continues to be very laughable inverting our expectations constantly and playing with the roles that Jerry and Joe retract on with their novel identities. Joe’s eyes initiate the most as before he was a stunning ruthless womanizer. Becoming a woman puts him in the crosshairs of every male insight and he’s on the receiving destroy of all the smirks, comments and passes that he would have passe with Sugar before his change. Wilder mixes social commentary so deftly with comedy (like Hitchcock’s work with suspense and social commentary) that at his best–and he’s at his best here–it reminds us how gripping a movie can be without being heavy handed. It’s also filled with some proper in jokes (for example Colombo played by George Raft observes a thug flipping a coin and comments, “Where did you remove up that cheap trick? ” Raft of course did the real thing in one of his signature roles in “Scarface” from 1932) .

A expansive movie looks even better in this piquant looking transfer. The dark and white imagery of the film looks glowing. Originally Marilyn Monroe lobbied to have the film shot in color which Billy Wilder felt wouldn’t work for this comedy (he persuaded her to agree to shoot in unlit and white when he showed her develop up tests for Jack Lemmon and Tony Curtis in color where their produce up as women made them glance slightly green) while the film certainly would have looked tall in color the sumptuous cinematography by Charles Lang (”The Sparkling Seven”, “Wait Until Sad”) looks extremely valid in this fantastic looking transfer. Detail is quite capable and blacks are solid with a nice array of different textures evident in the transfer. Audio is presented in the unusual mono and sounds aesthetic.

For those that are into such things the special features here are a large improvement over the previous edition. We acquire a commentary track compiled from comments by the leisurely Jack Lemmon, Tony Curtis and I.A.L. Diamond’s son (working with the comedy writers Lowell Ganz and Babaloo Mandel–honestly I could have idea of better writers to pair with Diamond’s son) . While the insights aren’t exactly a revelation it is an palatable commentary track.

We also fetch two terrific documentaries on the making of the film. The first features a mixture of recent and older interviews from the cast and crew. The second documentary “The Legacy of `Some Like it Hot’” is packed with trivia about the making of the film, Wilder & Monroe’s relationship on the spot and the difficult time Wilder had making the film with his leading lady including footage shot in the 80’s of Wilder and Diamond.

Finally we net “Memories from the Sweet Sues” featurette with members of the women who played in the band, an interview with Tony Curtis entitled “Nostalgic View Encourage” where Curtis reveals that actor/voice artist Paul Frees did mighty of his articulate as Josephine because he had anguish reaching the high teach. We also fetch the imaginatively titled but unimpressive “Virtual Hall of Memories 3-D Tour” The unique pressbook appears on the DVD as well and we gather reproductions of various lobby cards. Finally we acquire previews and the unique theatrical trailer.

Far more impressive than the lackluster previous DVD releases “Some Like It Hot” looks solid in this re-release although the film could gaze a bit more vibrant. The featurettes are, for the most section, very fine and the compiled commentary track adds loads of trivia (some of which is duplicated in the featurettes) about the making of the film. I do wish that a film historian such as UCLA professor Howard Suber had been eager in some intention to assist provide context for the movie but that’s objective personal preference. A beautiful release that could have been expansive with a wee bit more trouble on the fraction of Sony/MGM.

This anime series is considerable more than animation that it’s staggering. The best adult oriented saga can be found in this series.

Yugo, a negotiator takes us along for the slip which is his occupation. This series will hold your blood pumping as you realize that Yugo is impartial one step away from death. The only thing he has to rely on in most of his situations is his wits. There are no supernatural forces at work in this series, in fact, the series is so realistic, that it’s easy to launch believing that the series is being acted out by human beings instead of drawn anime.

The English relate acting on this series is bar none the best. It wouldnt surprise me if they weak celebrated Hollywood Actors to act out the scenes live and on station and then, when their budget fell apart, opted to animate the movie and adding the voices later.

Lastly, if youre in the mood for a serious anime that doesnt have the idiotic comedy scenes, then this is for you. You wont regret the recall. Like me, you’ll only regret that the series is only 4 discs long. They could have taken it all the arrangement out to 25 episodes if they wanted, but they opted against it.

Don’t let the PG-13 rating of the theatrical version of Sam Raimi’s Travel Me to Hell fool you, this is hard boiled dread that shouldn’t be taken lightly. Though he may be more recognzied these days for bringing Spider-Man to the substantial mask, Raimi first made a name for himself with the Substandard Lifeless trilogy, which began as a hardcore, balls to the wall scare franchise that gradually merged slapstick comedy into the equation. While there is a excellent amount of shaded humor to be found with Move Me to Hell, the film as a whole is a dizzying, nerve-rattling stride from the opening sequence upright to its conclusion. Alison Lohman stars as Christine, an ambitious loan officer at a bank who is seeking a grand time promotion. In an anxiety to earn it, she makes a tough decision in turning down a third extension on the mortgage of an worn gypsy woman (Lorna Raver), who subsequently puts a curse on her that will culminate in her soul being taken to Hell. Justin Long is along for the prance as Christine’s caring boyfriend, and Dileep Rao stars as a psychic who may be able to befriend Christine, who resorts to more desperate and desperate actions in an exertion to effect herself. Packed with some surprisingly noxious and disgusting moments, Dash Me to Hell is a compelling and genuinely repugnant film that you will not soon forget. It is so refreshing to spy a mainstream fear flick that isn’t shocked to order the goods and not adhere to typical conventions. Welcome attend Sam, we’ve missed you.

I can’t beget I’m going to say this but Hurry Me to Hell is my accepted movie of the year so far (Inglourious Basterds is a stop second) . I notion this Sam Raimi gem would pick up mixed reviews at best, so I was blown away when I saw the 100 or so obvious reviews flowing in from critics. It ranks with UP and Star Lumber as one of the best reviewed movies of the year. That rarely happens with a terror film, but this one is so noteworthy more. It’s elephantine of dusky humor, sinful out gags (really pushes the PG-13 envelope), salubrious acting, nice SFX and an bright anecdote. I can’t remember the last time I was this surprised at how powerful better the movie was than any of the trailers or what I had expected going in.

Alison Lohman really sold me here. She is very cute, but she shows the smarts and toughness you almost never peep in a dismay flick. Really sterling stuff from her. The whole cast from Justin Long to the substandard gypsy lady is space on and you can’t leave out director Sam Raimi. His visual style here will remind you of The Wicked Expressionless trilogy, but with a bigger budget and unprejudiced as distinguished creativeness. It was substantial to stare this now summer blockbuster director go aid to his roots and knock it out of the park. The music and sound effects are some of the best I’ve heard in a long time. When it goes from level-headed to extremely loud, the sound alone will obtain you jump. Out of all the movies I have seen in theaters, I can’t remember one with sound mixing this ample.

Well, do you deem I liked Amble Me to Hell unbiased a miniature bit? Really? When it comes to fright films, especially in current years, few pack the thrills, laughs and entertainment value that this one brings.

Chance Pop Session. Where do I commence? This anime was one of the very few that touched me with it’s memoir about starting from the bottom, then rising all the diagram to the very top. The art is recent and the english tell acting is perfect. Top notch ADV VAs like Shelley-Black, Monica Rial, Christine Auten, Hilary Haag, Kelli Cousins, (and my all time well-liked…) Tiffany Grant have done wonderfully to bring their girls to life. The english VAs never came up short and really nailed who they were playing. ADVFilms has been gifted with the best in stammer acting. Chasing dreams and being inspired is never cliche, it’s what normal people face everyday and it’s amazing to witness an individual complete his/her mission. Chance Pop(Triangle) Session is that account.

The legend is about three girls, each one comes from a different background and lifestyle. They all succor a concert which features blonde bombshell/singing sensation Reika. Reika is one hell of a singer from watching the first episode, it’s no wonder the girls became inspired. All three girls, now inspired by the elegant blonde, have location a goal to become singers. First we have: Akari, the easy going polite girl who sings like an angel, always had the talent and never showcased it till now. Second, Yuki: Yuki started out as a crew member for Reika’s concert. She works several jobs, saving up for her chance at singing. Third, Nozomi: Nozomi comes from a rich family with over-protective parents, but her obsession for Reika has given her a push to become singer as well.

All three girls eventually overcome the odds and ruin up becoming R3, a trio group. However, there’s a connection between the three and many road blocks they must overcome to succeed. In addition to their record, the touching and mighty moments between strict, but luminous manager Kisaragi Akiba and adopted daughter(Reika) are glorious to seek.

The music is wonderful. People have complained that the same song repeats itself, however I feel that each song can be heard a million times but they never grow outmoded. Kinda like Survivor’s Gaze of the Tiger or Michael Jackson’s Thriller. Feel the music, those songs are the catchiest I’ve ever heard. The entire CPS soundtrack was stuck in my head, can’t say the same thing for most anime soundtracks. And I don’t care what anyone says, “Priority” is one of the greatest J-POP songs to reach along in years!

This is a legend about overcoming the hard life reality and working hard to conclude your goals. No battles with Majin Buu, or whacky harem mayhem, honest proper mature anime storytelling of overcoming the odds and singing, singing, SINGING to your hearts dispute.

*sweatdrops* On a less serious heed, I wish I got the thinpak! Looks exquisite! I got the single DVDs years ago ^o^;

Very recommended anime title. If you wanna grow up and become a singer, (and like anime) here’s a grand blueprint to spark that passion.

Chance Pop Session is a fun, warmhearted fable which has more going for it than you might believe. Parents should heed that this is a “righteous” title, with no sex, violence etc… but it’s aloof a compelling account that’s fun to seek! In some ways Chance Pop Session is not unlike the very common “Kaliedo Star,” which emphasizes danger and teamwork towards success. The characters have depth and personality, their issues are meaningful, and the overall mood of the series is one of hope for the future and the warmth of bonds of family and friends. Chance Pop Session hasn’t been discovered by many anime fans in America, but it’s one of the well-behaved ones.

Just when you begin thinking they don’t design movies like this anymore, they go and produce one. Racing Stripes is not only one of the best films of its kind, it’s one of the best movies I’ve seen in the past few years. Animal movies always accumulate to me; they suck me in emotionally more than any other kind of fable. You may well shed tears of both happiness and sadness as you spy this film, but I can blooming powerful guarantee you’ll laugh and be thoroughly entertained – and more than ready to go serve and peek it all again as soon as you approach the slay. This is an inspirational film stout of the kinds of truths kids need to learn and adults need to remember. It may well be the best family-friendly movie thus far of the novel century. The keys to its success are a substantial narrative, a gargantuan cast of both animals and humans, and an indomitable spirit that few movies can bellow over the course of 103 minutes.

It’s a black beginning, as we peek a young zebra accidentally left slack by a circus on a road in Kentucky; luckily, Nolan Walsh (Bruce Greenwood) finds the diminutive guy and takes him home to his farm – where his daughter Channing (Hayden Panettiere) instantly falls in cherish with him and names him – what else? – Stripes. Stripes is also welcomed by the other animals on the farm – and it is here we learn that these animals can talk. Talking animals is a bigger risk than you might believe – it can easily flop if done poorly, but there are no worries here: the cast of stammer actors is first-rate. Dustin Hoffman plays a minute horse named Tucker, Whoopi Goldberg is Franny the goat, Jeff Foxworthy is expedient for many laughs as Reggie the rooster, and the list goes on. The farm lies adjacent to a horse track, and Stripes immediately decides he is a speed horse – no one tells him he’s a zebra. It honest so happens that Nolan is one of the best horse trainers around, but he left all of that leisurely some years earlier when his jockey wife was killed in a racing accident. That doesn’t cessation Channing from wanting to lumber, however, and Stripes is clear to some day point to himself on the track. He takes a lot of abuse for this – the horses in this film, with one exception, are incredibly arrogant, hateful creatures that constantly accomplish fun of Stripes. Luckily, though, a fair runt filly named Sandy (Mandy Moore) befriends and encourages him. I should mention the fact that Frankie Muniz supplies the assert of Stripes – and even Snoop Dogg contributes as the say of Lightning, the world’s laziest dog.

The odds are against Stripes. No zebra has ever raced with horses, and Nolan is adamantly opposed to letting his daughter bustle at all. That’s where Stripes’ animal friends reach in. Even the newest addition to the farm, a Mafioso pelican named Goose (Joe Pantoliano) does his fraction. The only characters who can give Goose a bustle for his money in terms of comedy are Buzz and Scuzz, two flies featuring the voices of Steve Harvey and David Spade. Wait until you perceive them dance and dispute. A number of physical and emotional obstacles stand in the design of Stripes’ realizing his dream. To succeed, he will have to want it with all of his heart, stand up against ridicule and even physical threat (Sir Trenton is not going to sit tranquil for a zebra joining in a rush his son is supposed to pick up), gape who he is and what he is made of. You’ll want to stand up and cheer for this valorous runt zebra with the heart of a champion. There’s so considerable more to this sage, though. Nolan’s struggle to forget the past and back his daughter’s dreams is quite emotional, the animals are all unbelievable characters themselves – especially Tucker, the exiguous horse who helps yell Stripes for the tremendous hasten (and is amply rewarded in a very poignant moment) . I’ve always believed that we glance the best of human nature through our animals, and that is certainly the case here. The only complaint I have is that the talented animal actors who heavenly great carried this film did not salvage their names listed in the credits. This always bothers me; every human who had anything to do with these animals gets credited, but the animals themselves are snubbed – it should not be this contrivance. The animals compose this movie and they deserve to have their contain names in lights.

I’ll attain with a warning: parents who remove this DVD for their kids can ask to leer a lot of this movie, as kids will inevitably want to peruse it multiple times. The wonderful news is that parents should appreciate multiple viewings of Racing Stripes unbiased as worthy as their kids surely will.

After the crystalline purity of -Million Dollar Baby-, my Hubby & i *needed* a fracture from Reality. -Racing Stripes- delivers in stripes – er, spades.

The sincere stars of this film aren’t Whoopi Goldberg, Frankie Munitz, Dustin Hoffman, Jeff Foxworthy, Michal Clark Duncan, & all the vocal talent; it’s the *way* those massive talents are extinct. From the originate, when a zebra colt is accidentally abandoned & adopted by a racer-trainer-turned-farmer [Bruce Greenwood, 1ce a putrid intern in -St. Elsewhere-] & his daughter Channing, the chronicle is a sweet [but, thank the gods, not *quite* saccharine] record of a zebra [named Stripes, of course] who grows up to become a racer, to the chagrin of all the ‘real’, snooty keep-*It*-out-of-*my*-race horses. The CGI are flawless, esp. in the speed at the waste [sorry Channing, zebras can't rush the gruelling chubby course of a rush track!] & the loving assist of all Stripes’ farm buddies believable … in fact, this 1 is *better* than -Babe- due to the improvements of CGI.

As Donald remarked at the ruin, “Ain’t Macs wunnerful? ” This film also features sweetly-effective Hayden Panettiere as Channing, the perky/pretty/gallant girl who Believes in Stripes. Plus, South Africa makes a *terrific* Kentucky … speaking as a worn Hoosier who serene loves/remembers the achingly green purity of that more-Southern-than space.

& also “What a *great* change. A loyal relief!” For those who hold in the Dream = Winning … & even those who don’t, this is a glean in less than 2 hours.
